July 10, 2008 Buzz Worthy: Wrestlers go back to their Watering Hole roots on Saturday It's tough to survive a decade in any industry, let alone one that's had as many well-publicized ups and downs as professional wrestling. But All-Star Championship Wrestling officially has notched 10 years under its belt — presumably a gaudy gold one to be worn around someone's waist — and is using Saturday to revisit every eye gouge and leg drop along the way. One of the longest running sports entertainment companies in the Midwest, ACW is returning to its original home base, the Watering Hole, 2107 Velp Ave., Howard, for a 10th anniversary show. Among those who got their start in ACW (but won't make Saturday's event) are local products/current WWE superstars, Ken Kennedy and Hornswoggle. WWE World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk, also wrestled at ACW events. "The Watering Hole has a lot of memories for us. That's where we had our TV tapings, where we made our name," said Jerry Lesperance, a wrestler and director of sales for ACW. "So we're going back and reflecting on our last 10 years there, everybody who has wrestled for us. It's kind of like going back and dusting off your old letterman's jacket." The show is all ages; doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $12 for front row. Kids 10 and younger get in half price. For more information, visit www.nwawisconsin.com. |
